The Moon Maiden´s Song

It was sung in the lore’s of the middle island, about how once one Bard fell in love with a Moon Maiden

And his quest to save her from the prison of distress

This is the song I heard in one of those trips to the edges of day and night.

In a ray of moon I saw her

Surfing down towards our land

Filling the air with dust of stars

And thoughts of never before

Like a lighting striking in the sea

Our defenseless Bard fell to her charms

To the way she moved

To how she created the world around her

With every breath

With every sight

With every single smile

The Mood Maiden was creating a chain

Over the poor Bard´s soul

With flaming hair

With the whole of nature in her eyes

Stumbling ´round our land

Filling it with her passion and her grace

Days went and came

Nights rose and fell

The Bards sung her songs of yesterday

Songs of nevermore and never before

And the Maiden smiled, and smiled

Giving away her time to all and none

Liking all the attention received

And falling to no one’s tongue

Running from east to north

Prancing from south to west

The Moon Maiden was cheerful

Knowing herself free

Rebelling against all her so called pretenders

The moon they promise to her

But the moon she already owned

To cross the seas forth and back for her

But none of that impressed her

To slay or to kill this or that

And she with disgust looked away

And turn her back from those knights

Who only wanted to chain her

To the gray live of a palace and a backyard

But then, the Maiden ill fell

With sadness and despair

None of them knew what to do for her

Some of the knights went and came

Like crazy chickens running in circles ´round her

Some brought witches

Some brought doctors

None could do anything for the Maiden

Whose moon shine faded

With each passing night

But forth went the Bard

And embarked on a quest

To the depths of the enchanted valley

In search of the cure

That was whispered to him

By the wind nymphs of night

Who knew that only he

Could go and bring the cure

That would save their Maiden of the Moon

So ahead he went alone

Arm with only his infatuation and his words

The bard climbed the fiery mountains

And swam across the icy rivers

Run away from some dangers

And had to fight with some crazy maidens

Ahead he went, our bard

With only the Maidens fate in his heart

Not thinking of the cold or the heat

Not knowing what in the end he would find

After days and nights of travel

At last our bard arrived

To the very depths of the enchanted valley

Where he found the Unicorn of night

Walking gracefully above the land

Without any worry of present or past

Have you come to slay me

Ask him the Unicorn of night

Have you come to commit a crime

Of dimensions that you can´t even imagine lad

I have come to seek your help

Oh great Unicorn of night

I have come to beseech your advise

On how I could save the Maiden

That lies ill and pale

Under the night sky

Take my tears bard I say

Take my tears and bring them to her

But with a price I´m sorry to say

Comes the ability of saving her

The Maiden of the fiery hair

Whatever I would do oh great one

Whatever I´ll endure

As long as she can

Free of despair and sadness

Bring us back her smile

And light again the night sky

Your life you´ll have to pay

In order for her to be save

Your life you´ll have to sacrifice

For the greater good

For your Maiden of the Moon

Without hesitation of any kind

The Bard took the Unicorn tears

And ran with the aid of the Wind

Swan with the aid of the River

And for days and nights he travel

Without a single break or nap

Knowing that time was his enemy

In this, the last part of his life

At last he got to her

And with the last breath of his heart

He sang to his beloved one

Here I stand my Moon Maiden

Here I stand with the tears of the great one

With the tears of joy of the Unicorn of night

Here I bring them to you

So you can once more

Fill our mortal land

With you laughs and your joy

While I depart to the land of eternal night

From where I´ll watch

How my Moon Maiden once more

Brings shines with her eyes

Over this land from which I now depart

When the Moon Maiden finally awoke

From her long nightmare of sadness and despair

She saw the body of his Bard

Whom gave her a last look of devotion

While the Maiden took his head

And kiss him softly

Escorting his soul

To the sky and beyond

From where he could ever be

Ever present watching over

Her Moon Maiden´s Song
